the Statement Earring

...is popping up everywhere - and it has a lot to say.

I first took note of this look when I saw the "Lone Star" feature in the June 2014 issue of Vogue; Emily Holt is shown wearing a single brass earring by Celine. As I continue to see this look in fashion editorials and ads, I'm predicting that the one earring - or mix and match earring look - is here to stay through Fall.

Emma Watson wears a Delfina Delettrez Pearl Earring with a simple, lady-like LBD (Little Black Dress). We at CocoVee especially love this look, because we are all Pearl Girls!

This Turtle Neck look is another perfect example of what to wear with a statement earring (the one shown is by Louis Vuitton) – or earrings – because it's a monotone, classic piece; you don't want your outfit to make too much of a statement, as well – let your earring (s) do all of the talking.

The key to this look is to mix and match large and small – like a hoop or a chandelier on one ear and a post earring on the other. Above are 6 gorgeous examples of earrings - all sold as a pair that can be worn on just one ear and mixed and matched with another.

At CocoVee, our earring selection is always refreshing itself. Since we pride ourselves in carrying both classic and unique pieces to choose from, you will surely find more than one option to make a Statement.

In this Etre Cecile ad, notice the lovely young model (on the left) with a single pearl Statement Earring? The solitary pearl is the first thing I notice when I see this photo - which means only one thing: a statement is exactly what this Statement Earring is making.

The Keshi Pearl

Under the very large umbrella of baroque pearls resides the very unique and lovely Keshi Pearl.

The word "Keshi" is Japanese and means poppy seed. Keshi pearls can be freshwater or saltwater and vary in size and shape, however, the main element common to all Keshi pearls is they do not have a nucleus.

They are most often referred to as having a "corn flake" shape. The bottom line is the Keshi is a reject. This meaning that the oyster (salt) or mollusk (fresh) spits out the nucleus before the development of the pearl has had the opportunity to finish. Natures reject has become a very treasured and loved type of pearl-available in a myriad of shapes, colors, and sizes.

Our newest Keshi combo necklace/bracelet/earrings in the "Yum Yum" colors of summer!

Karen Hill Tribe Silver of Thailand

CocoVee is proud of our Beach Silver Collection, made using Karen Hill Tribe Silver and precious freshwater pearls, designed all by Bobbi Whitmore – the Ms.CocoVee.

Karen Hill Tribe Silver is made by the Karen Hill Tribes of Thailand, who live in villages tucked away on remote mountainsides. Besides farming various crops, the Karen people handcraft finely woven garments and silver pieces that are 95-99% pure silver. Since they use a higher-content silver (than sterling – 92.5%) - the pieces are “softer” and easier to shape into intricate designs – often nature-themed. Oxidation (that leaves black coloring in the grooves), hammer marks, and slight design variations give Karen Hill Tribe Silver a distinct look; no two designs are exactly alike.

The lovely Miss Jean (above) models our long, chocolate-brown Baroque Pearl necklace with a Silver Shell - worn off-center - over an Indian tunic. Here's another way to wear the same design - with skinny jeans, a long-sleeved top, and brightly-colored accessories...

Since Bobbi chose silver seashell and flower pieces to accent different types of pearls, the Beach Silver Collection has an earthy, one of a kind feel – which is fitting, because each piece is unique – just like a seashell or a flower that you would find in it's natural element.

This is a multi-strand, knotted pearl necklace with a gorgeous flower center; $195. Many of the pieces from the Collection have already been claimed by some lucky ladies, but we still have a handful of gorgeous, one of a kind designs for you to choose from.

our Pink Boutique

CocoVee has always carried Pink pieces to help raise Breast Cancer Awareness, which is a cause that we take to heart, not just in October, but everyday.

We believe that it is important for us all to remember loved ones that we may have lost, as well as to provide support to patients and survivors through kindness and understanding.

To celebrate and remember these remarkable women everywhere, we will now have a Pink Boutique in our shop, set up all year long.

In October, CocoVee participated in Polyvore's "Why do you wear Pink?" design contest. Our answer: because - I am Strong - and that's how we feel when we wear Pink.
This is a day-to-night Pink look - a quick change after work and you're ready to go out!

We now carry our own unique designs - incorporating Pink pearls and crystals - with various Breast Cancer Awareness ribbons adorned on many of the pieces. Of course, a portion of all CocoVee Pink sales is donated to the charity of our choice, to help fund research for prevention, treatments, and cures.

Why do you wear Pink? Whatever the reason may be, remember - everyday - that you are Strong!

( Also remember to do this every month... )
