I saw Keaton with our necklace on!

I recently came across a photo of the lovely Diane Keaton wearing one of our very versatile "leather and pearl strands" that we carry at CocoVee...

Ms. Keaton chose to wear her black leather and pearl strand doubled up, wrapped around (like a choker) and then "fastened" like a lariat - what a look - what a lady !!!
The "leather and pearl strand" has been at CocoVee since our doors opened - and has become one of our regularly offered pieces. We love them so much because of their versatility - they can be worn as a necklace (many different ways), as a belt (or "waist-cincher"), and as a bracelet (wrapped around your wrist).

This lovely CocoVee model wears our "leather and pearl strands" (lots of them!) wrapped around her waist - in front of the Cocoa Beach pier.
Best part of the CocoVee "leather and pearl strand"? They are made of real nugget pearls and real leather - that comes in a variety of colors to choose from, including cream, gray, chocolate, sky blue, and lime.

Pull out your favorite crisp, white button down shirt - pick up a "leather and pearl strand" from CocoVee - and steal Diane's look for only $12 dollars!

Now that's a great look for under $100 !!!

Mom as a Style Icon

For most girls, Mom is your first style icon. We look up to her - and all of her glamor and style - playing dress up with her clothes and accessories - and often carrying these acquired tastes into adulthood with us. Anything passed down to us from her - whether it be a gift or a simple hand-me-down - feels as though her warm touch embraces you when you wear what she once wore. Personally, I am filled with courage and strength whenever I wear any of Mom's "old thangs"- hearing all of her wise words of advice when I look down at my bracelet, or tug on my necklace - that perhaps she once tugged on in trying times. Style isn't always about sporting the hottest brand names or "what's in now," but can mean so much more - history, memories, hopes, and dreams often lie behind your most everyday outfits.
Madonna with daughter, Lourdes - what a beautiful pair of ladies!

We at CocoVee hope that all of the moms and ladies of the world had a stylish Mother's Day this year!

What is a Shell Pearl?

CocoVee was recently accused of selling fake pearls - oh my! But we would never dare to do such a thing, and we take pride in the fact that all of our pearls are from the freshwater pearl markets of China.

See! Here's Miss Roberta shopping the pearl markets of China - looks like FUN!

The pearl necklace in question was one made of large, perfectly rounded and brightly colored pearls - and anyone who knows their pearls, knows that this necklace was made from shell pearls - which are of course, real pearls!

Shell pearls are made from the oyster shell that houses the pearl - instead of being produced within the shell itself. The shell pearl material is cut, shaped, dyed, and strung - in order to make perfectly rounded or very large pearl necklaces at an affordable price. We have shell pearls worked into some of our pieces, seen below, as well as a wide variety of other freshwater pearls!
Left to right: green and dark gray shell pearls, "silver" shell pearls, and brown (somewhat teardrop-shaped) shell pearls on a lariat necklace.
So - what is a shell pearl?

I bet Diane Keaton knows..

It's a pearl made from the shells that produce pearls -
and yes, it is still a real pearl!

There's our pearl lesson of the hour, ladies - thanks for living and learning with us!
